After a courageous 5-year battle with ovarian cancer, Pamela Jordan Penny passed away on April 6th. She was positive and full of energy until the very end.
Pam was born in Kingston, PA on February 11, 1955 to Llewellyn and Carolyn Jordan, and moved to Newport News, VA in 1970. She graduated from William & Mary with a BBA in Accounting and had a successful career in financial management, retiring in 2016 as EVP and Chief Accounting Officer of HCC Insurance Holdings, Inc., a publicly traded company.
She and her husband, Jim, purchased Bel-Mede (c. 1770), an 18th Century house located in Williamsburg, VA, in 2008 and spent several years working on restoration and expansion long distance. They moved to Williamsburg in 2016 and have enjoyed their Burns Lane Neighborhood and so many friends here.
Pam provided financial and leadership support for many local organizations, including: William & Mary, where she received the Alumni Medallion in 2024 and was an Honorary Alumna of the Law School, and was a founding member of the Society of 1918, which encourages financial support from women alumni, served on the William & Mary Foundation Board and the Mason Accounting Programs Board, endowed two professorships and several scholarships and was a member of the James Blair Society; Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, where she provided financial support for the Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg, the Campbell Archeology Center and many other projects throughout the historic area; Child Development Resources, where she provided financial support and served as chairman of the board as CDR nearly completed fundraising for its new building; Jamestown Rediscovery Foundation, where Pam served on the Board of Trustees and as Treasurer and provided financial support for numerous projects; and Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation, where she provided financial support for the Following the Dragon Exhibition, several other exhibits and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown. She was an officer of the Order of St John, an ancient charitable order.
Pam was predeceased by her parents, Llewelyn and Carolyn Jordan, and her beloved sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and George Georgis. She is survived by Jim, her loving husband of more than 40 years, niece Ashley Nichols and her husband Patrick and their children Kaylee Georgis, Annalie Nichols and Ben Nichols, brother-in-law Steve Penny, his wife Kim and daughters Heather, Sarah Beth and Katie, brother-in-law Mike Penny, her Aunt Esther Jordan and several cousins, including Laila Toubia who is a freshman at William & Mary.

A celebration of Pam's life will be held at 2 o'clock in the afternoon on May 9, 2026 at Bruton Parish Church in Colonial Williamsburg, 201 Duke of Gloucester Street, Williamsburg, VA 23185. The service will be live-streamed at https://m.youtube.com/@BrutonParish/streams.
