Pamela "Pam" Pillion Schwarz, 81, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2025, at her home in Gladwyne, Pennsylvania, with her family at her side. Born on November 17, 1944, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she was the eldest daughter of Bernard Paul Pillion and Kathleen O'Connell Pillion. Pam was the beloved wife of the late Robert Schwarz, mother of Robert Schwarz Jr., Elizabeth Schechter, and Jonathan Schwarz, and grandmother to Nicholas Schwarz, Derek Schwarz, Samuel Schechter, and Alexandra Schechter. Her love for her family was unwavering and evident in every aspect of her life.
Pam lived a life marked by quiet strength, creativity, and deep devotion to her family. She attended Moore College of Art and Design, where she developed the artistic foundation that would remain an important part of her life. In addition to being a devoted homemaker who created a warm and nurturing home environment, Pam played an important role in the early years of the family business—the Schwarz Gallery. She contributed significantly to the design of the gallery's early catalogs, lending her artistic eye and thoughtful touch to its foundational materials. Though she worked behind the scenes, her influence helped shape the gallery's identity during its formative years.
Pam's own artistic talents extended beyond her work at the gallery. A gifted artist in her own right, she created pieces that now hang proudly in the homes of many family members. Her fashion and children's illustrations have been used by radio stations, department stores and children's books. These works serve as enduring reminders of her creativity and personal expression—each one a testament to her unique vision and quiet passion for art.
She is also remembered as a loving sister to Paul Pillion, Kathleen Conroy, and Susan Taylor. Her relationships with her siblings were lifelong bonds that brought joy and connection throughout the years.
Pam devoted herself wholeheartedly to her home and family. Whether through her art or through everyday acts of care and kindness, she enriched the lives of those around her with grace and generosity.
A celebration of Pam's life will be held at a later date. Please contact the family for further details. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pamela's name to a charity of your choice.
May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
