Parker H. Wilson

1940 - 2026

Parker H. Wilson, Esquire, 85, formerly of Bryn Mawr, PA, late of Lake Nuangola, PA and Vero Beach, FL, succumbed to Alzheimer's and passed away peacefully on January 11, 2026, with the love of his life and wife of 63 years, Jill Schmucker Wilson, by his bedside. Born in Philadelphia to the late Elsie Williams Wilson and F. Harrison Wilson, Parker was a graduate of Oak Park HS, Oak Park, IL. He earned a degree in accounting from the Lehigh University College of Business in 1962, where he was president of the Delta Phi fraternity. He received his law degree from University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1965.

Starting his legal career as an associate with Duryea & Larzelere in Ardmore, PA, Parker went on to serve in the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office, where at age 28 he rose to the position of First Assistant District Attorney. In 1969 he co-founded his own legal firm in Norristown, PA and as it grew over the next four decades, he had the privilege of practicing with partners including the late Hon. Calvin S. "Pete" Drayer, The Hon. William J Furber, Patrick J. Broderick, Esq., The Hon. Steven T. O'Neill and the late John H. Martin III, Esq., along with numerous other valued colleagues. Parker retired in 2005.

When it came to politics, Parker was known as a man of integrity - his word was his bond. For many years, he chaired the Lower Merion Republican Party, and his influence in GOP politics encompassed Montgomery County.

Parker especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Whether it was hosting extended family gatherings at Thanksgiving, or annual family vacation trips to Wayne, Maine and Long Beach Island, Canadian fishing trips with his boys, or later, hosting his kids and grandkids on sailing excursions or get-togethers at his lake house. He was never too busy to attend his boys' sporting events. He attended religiously, whether home or away, from tee ball through college, always ready with positive support.

Parker was a life-long Eagles and Phillies fan. He was also a scholar of history - particularly the American Civil War - and was an avid reader of history and historical fiction. He took pleasure in target shooting pistols, a hobby he enjoyed sharing with his grandson, Nate.

As he entered the second half of his life, Parker caught the bluewater sailing bug and, with Jill, set out on a thirty-year odyssey on their beloved Valiants of 40 and 47 feet, "Tootsie" and "Tootsie II". To his grandchildren he oft quoted from Kenneth Grahame's classic children's book, The Wind in the Willows: "There is nothing—absolutely nothing—half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats", and that they did. From their homeport in Rock Hall, MD, they enjoyed cruising the Chesapeake Bay and excursions to Cape May, Nantucket and Martha's Vinyard, as far north as Portland ME, and as far east as Bermuda. Notable trips included surviving an epic squall with Bill Furber, somewhere off Massachusetts, and a 1st place finish in the Bermuda Rally cruisers race with son, Greg and his good friend Brian Briggs. Winters took them south where their cruising grounds covered the Bahamas, the US and British Virgin Islands, and the Leeward and Winward islands as far south as Grenada. They affectionately referred to their home port of Vero Beach FL as "Velcro Beach" as it felt like home and was hard to leave. They loved sharing these adventures with family and friends.

Parker's life was enriched by the many life-long friendships that he made along his life path from school days through his career and retirement. Those friends, many of whom have passed, are too numerous to name but are remembered fondly by the family.

Besides his parents, Parker is predeceased by his sister Gay Kendall, brother Craig H. Wilson, and his granddaughter, Victoria Elizabeth Wilson.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, the former Jill Schmucker, sister Gwen Wolstenholme, sons Alex, Greg (Ann), and Guy (Heather), grandchildren Nate Wilson, Mallory Wilson (BJ Pollock), Mac Wilson, Emma Wilson, Carly Wilson, and Sydney Wilson as well as great-grandsons Myles and Henry Pollock.

In lieu of a funeral service, the family plans to have a celebratory gathering on Saturday, May 30, 2026, in the Philadelphia area to honor his memory. Details to be announced.

Donations in Parker's memory may be made to The Tunnel to Towers Foundation- https://todaysveterans.org/ or the donor's favorite charity.
