Patricia “Pat” Adams, 73, died peacefully on August 23, 2025, at Sacred Ground Hospice House after a 20-month battle with primary peritoneal cancer.
Patricia Ann Adams was born November 3, 1951, on the south side of Chicago to Frank and Laverne Vicks, the second of five children. Naturally responsible, much of her childhood involved caring for younger siblings, though she enjoyed more independence in her teenage years, exploring the city and attending concerts downtown. Pat was known for her quiet strength, deep sense of responsibility, and unwavering devotion to her family.
Pat married her next-door neighbor, Edward Louis, and soon welcomed their two children, David and Kimberly. Tragically, Edward’s passed away in 1987, a loss Pat struggled deeply to overcome. She eventually remarried, and years later moved her family to Maryville, Tennessee, after falling in love with the Smoky Mountains on her honeymoon.
Pat worked hard to support her family from a young age, building a lifelong career in insurance and earning the respect of colleagues along the way. She retired from Travelers Insurance after 23 years.
Pat’s greatest love was her family. She is survived by her son, David Adams, and his wife, Lindsey Hill; her daughter, Kimberly Adoerre, and her wife, Kristin Adoerre; and her sister, Martha Turpin and brothers Robert (Bob) and Frank Jr. She also loved music, the ocean, spoiling her pets, and quiet early-morning moments on her porch with a cup of coffee.
In her final weeks, Pat was surrounded by the love and support of family and friends, with special gratitude to the dedicated staff at Sacred Ground Hospice House. Pat will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
