1951 - 2025

**In Loving Memory of Patricia Ann Turner Fisher Rolen**
*June 29, 1951 – March 19, 2025*
Patricia Ann “Chip” Turner Fisher Rolen passed away peacefully on March 19, 2025, in Houston, TX, at the age of 73, after experiencing a stroke 6 months prior, surrounded by all of her children and family, both in person and by phone. Her last moments were filled with love, laughter, music, and cherished memories. Her son Brad sang songs; stories shared and hearts gathered close. Days before passing, she was visited by her beloved daughter Meredith, grandchildren, cousins, and friends. Her son Justin lifted her spirts each time he called—her heart was full. She departed this world wrapped in warmth and grace, embraced by those who loved her most.
Born on June 29, 1951, in St. Louis, Missouri, Pat—affectionately known as “Chip” and “Patty Cakes” —was the daughter of Doris Gwendolyn Nelson Turner and Roscoe Bryant Turner. Her maternal grandparents of St. Louis, MO. Harriet Blanche McCall Nelson (Nana) and Wendell P. Nelson (Papa) raised Pat and her sister Gwen after the passing of their parents at an early age. Her paternal grandparents of New Orleans, LA. Ida Mae Turner (Mama Grand) and Aunts Hilda Turner Darensbourg and Olive Mae Turner were strong influences in Pat’s upbringing as well, and they all laid the foundation for a life devoted to learning, service, and deep familial love.
A proud graduate of Southwest High School in St. Louis, Pat pursued higher education with determination and passion. She earned her undergraduate degree in Business Administration/Management from Lindenwood University and went on to receive her Master’s degree in Human Resources Development from Webster University. Her commitment to education reflected her lifelong belief in personal growth and helping others achieve their best.
Professionally, Pat found pride and fulfillment working at St. Joseph's/Candler in Savannah, GA. Her workplace was more than just a job; it was a second home where colleagues became extended family. Her dedication to her work and the people around her left an impression on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Pat loved history and took pride and joy in collecting and preserving family history through documents, photos, news articles, and diaries. She committed hours of research exploring her family tree on Ancestry and shared her excitement each time another branch was added to the family tree. Pat also had the gift of memory, recalling who, what, when and where of people and places she met, past and current.
She also delighted in cooking and was always in her kitchen preparing meals, portioning them into single servings, and freezing them. You could find her freezer packed and organized down to a science. She shared her food the way she shared her heart – freely, generously, and with joy.
She is lovingly remembered by her only sister, Carol Gwen Turner Johnson. They shared a strong bond and had daily conversations reminiscing about growing up on Windermere Place in St. Louis, MO. with cousins Dianne, Jerome, Kathy, Wendell, Jeralyn and many neighbors. Special memories of annual block parties, acting out stage plays like Westside Story in neighbors’ garage, riding bikes up and down the block, slay riding on snowy days, and laughing until wee hours in the morning—are treasures they hold close. “Pat and I talked every day, and even as adults, that childhood closeness never faded. She was my sister, my confidante, my constant”.
Pat treasured her children, Justin Bryant Fisher of Savannah, GA, Meredith Turner Rolen of Chicago, IL, and Bradford Lewis Rolen of St. Louis, MO; and her grandchildren, Avrey and Ashtin Fisher, especially attending their various sports games, performing arts shows and celebrating their travels and accomplishments.
Her Houston family consists of niece Tricia Lynn McKinney (Larry), and nephew Marvin Lewis Gordon, Jr. (Carol) along with great-nieces Serena and Bryanna and great-nephew Larenz. She also leaves behind a host of cousins whose lives touched her deeply and often visited in New Orleans - Elmore, Donna, Giles, Hildon, Mary, Steven, Robin, Oliver, Diana, Karen, and their families.
Pat’s warmth extended far beyond her immediate family. She cherished time with friends far and near, neighbors, and co-workers, no one remained a stranger. Sincere appreciation to Peggy Ann and family, co-worker Gwen Arnold, the Houston Sunday Brunch Queens and most importantly Hands To Lend Assisted Living, all who enriched Pat’s life with their friendship and caring.
Her vibrant spirit radiated through every interaction; she lived life fully and joyfully, always feeling youthful. A woman of faith, Pat was a devoted Christian who believed wholeheartedly in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Her unwavering belief brought comfort to those around her and guided the way she lived—with compassion, forgiveness, and love.
In a final act of generosity, Pat donated her body to science at the UT Health Science Center of Houston McGovern Medical School which was completed shortly before Christmas of 2025.
As we honor Pat on the first anniversary of her passing, her family and friends feel the weight of her absence and the warmth of her memory all at once. Her legacy is one of love, strength, laughter, and connection. She touched so many lives, and her memories continue to touch each of us every day.
Pat believed seeing a Cardinal bird is often seen as a sign of comfort, hope, and reassurance, indicating that their spirit lives on. When you see a Cardinal, think of Pat.
Pat, you are loved beyond measure, missed beyond words, and will always live on in our hearts.
