Send Flowers Plant A Tree
Patricia Bryant Bowers, beloved wife, mother, realtor, art history lover, and lover of life itself, affectionately known as Patti, Peppermint Patti, and later in life, Trish, died peacefully at her home in Haverford, Pennsylvania, on February 26, 2026, surrounded by loved ones, after a brief but devastating illness.

Born Patricia Lee Bryant on May 7, 1951, in Philadelphia, PA, to Eleanor Ann and John "Jack" George Bryant, she spent her formative years in Radnor, PA. Patti was raised with strong Catholic values, attending the Academy of Notre Dame de Namur and the School of the Holy Child, where she excelled in the classroom and on stage. She consistently earned academic first honors while playing prominent roles in musicals such as Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady and Anna Leonowens in The King and I. In 1967, she branched out from more traditional musical roles to become the lead singer of "The Paoli Rugg Co.," a garage rock band she formed with her close friends. She went on to attend Rosemont College before transferring to the University of Pennsylvania after a year, majoring in Art History and being named to the Dean's List. While at Penn, she studied abroad at the American International School in Vienna, Austria, attended summer school at Harvard University, and upon graduation in 1973, continued on to Temple University, where she earned a graduate degree in Education. Following Temple, she taught special education students in Philadelphia.

Patti ultimately transitioned from her role as a teacher to lead a long and successful career as a real estate agent on the Main Line. Bringing to bear her love of art history, she had the remarkable ability to decorate any home with an elegant style that far exceeded the standards of her favorite magazine, Architectural Digest. As an (unofficial) Main Line historian, she could easily enthrall others by recounting the unique history of every neighborhood and home. Outside of finding her clients a place to call home, she enjoyed rollerblading on Kelly Drive, sweating at aerobics classes at the YMCA, dancing at the Windrift "down the shore" by her parents' summer house in Stone Harbor, NJ, listening to the Philadelphia Orchestra at "the Mann," traveling to New York City to catch a show on Broadway, and, most of all, spending time and talking on the phone for hours with the beloved friends she cherished throughout her life, particularly her eternal grade school confidantes, Barbara, Sue, and Fran.

Patricia is survived by her only child, John Bryant Rode. Her hard work and devotion to John's academic success enabled him to attend the prestigious Haverford School, providing a strong foundation for his current career in medicine. Inspired by her love of music and culture, John became a talented classical singer, serving as a professional member of the choir at the Church of the Redeemer in Bryn Mawr, PA. Patti was always John's undisputed biggest fan at the pool, supporting him as a star swimmer since before he could even walk. Encouraged by his mother to follow his family's tradition of service exemplified by his Grandpa Jack, Uncle Jimmy, and stepfather Jim, John served as a U.S. naval officer for six years. He later moved on from the military to care for others as a physician, motivated by the selfless care Patti showed him throughout his life, and is currently training as a general surgeon in Chicago, IL. In 2024, he married his wife Amy Rubinger, who Patti absolutely adored and was always proud to call her daughter. Anyone who has ever known Patti understands that there was one thing she enjoyed talking about most: how much John has, and always will be, her pride and joy.

In 2007, Patricia married James "Jim" Robert Bowers at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Wayne, PA. During the nearly 20 years they shared together, Jim and Trish traveled around the world, escaping the winters of the Northeast at their home in Florida. Jim's love and devotion to Trish knew no bounds. Recognizing that cooking was not her forte (as John can attest), Jim would whip up gourmet meals for her at a moment's notice. He stood steadfast by her side during the loss of her mother and brother, and when she was too weak to stand, carried her throughout her courageous battle with Parkinson's disease, enabling her to enjoy life to the fullest despite the myriad obstacles her diagnosis presented. Jim's commitment to Trish and their partnership filled the past two decades of their lives with love, fulfillment, and happiness.

Patricia is survived by her loving husband, Jim, her son, John, and her daughter-in-law, Amy. She is preceded in death by her eldest brother Jim, who passed away from cancer in 2009, and is survived by her younger brother, Andy, and his wife, Andrea. Trish is further survived by her cousin, Mary Hardy, and three nieces, Alex, Christina, and Elizabeth (Buffy).

Together with Jim, Patricia made charitable contributions supporting healthcare, education, and feeding the hungry.

In keeping with her wishes, Patricia was cremated and will take her final rest next to her mother and father at Philadelphia Memorial Park in Frazer, PA, following a Celebration of Life at the Church of the Redeemer in Bryn Mawr, PA on March 14, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. All are welcome to attend.
