Patricia 'Patsy' Clare LaVoy Cook, a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and lifelong servant to her faith and friends, passed away on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2026, at her home in Deer Lodge, Montana, one month shy of her 75th birthday.
She was born on March 14, 1951, on the Island of Oahu in Honolulu, Hawaii.
She had a great love for animals, having studied as a veterinary assistant at California State University, Fresno. She operated her own pet care business for nearly 30 years,
Patsy's abiding faith in Jesus Christ was the root of her remarkable character. She was unwaveringly firm in her belief and strived to live by Proverbs 31:10-31. She loved encouraging others with handwritten cards and notes.
Her gift of hospitality was evident at hundreds of dinners, events, and Bible Camps.
Friends and family will remember her smile, kindness, and helping hand. She loved Bible study and devotions, gardening, fishing, dogs, and cats. But most of all, she loved her family.
She had a servant's heart the size of the Montana Skies. Those who knew her will remember a life well lived and a woman well loved.
Patsy is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Duane Cook; her two devoted children, Amy Bess Cook and Adam Benjamin Cook, and his wife, Emily Grace Hammond Cook. She was the cherished grandmother of Sydney Grace Cook, Riley James Cook, and Aidan Benjamin Cook. They knew her as Meme. She is also survived by her sister, Janice Avilla; her sister-in-law, Carol Phillips; and her nephews, their wives, and children.
Her parents, Clement Peter 'Pete' LaVoy and Genevieve 'Gen' Marie Kinney LaVoy, predeceased her.
A Celebration of Life Service will be scheduled for June.
Her family will scatter her ashes in places she dearly loved in Montana...her favorite fishing spot by the Kona Ranch Bridge on the Clark Fork River, where she loved to sit and bring her dog, Dante, at Maclay Flats on the Bitterroot River, and Jacobs Island Dog Park near downtown Missoula.
In place of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to one of Patsy's favorite organizations, Asian Concerns International.
