Pat Durflinger, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and dedicated educator, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026, in Granite Bay at the age of 89.
Born on April 13, 1936, in Needles, California to Byron and Mary June (James) Cord, Pat was raised with strong values of family, service, and resilience that would guide her throughout her life. Over the years, she made her home in several Golden State communities, including Bishop, San Luis Obispo, Barstow, Pleasant Hill, Concord, and Brentwood, forming lasting friendships and touching countless lives along the way.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jim Durflinger, who passed away in 2001, and by her daughter, Denise Baker in 2021. Though she endured profound loss, Pat's strength and grace remained evident to all who knew her.
She is survived by her sons and their spouses; Jeff and Kelly Durflinger of Penn Valley, and Steven and David Harris-Durflinger of Lafayette, and son-in-law Nick Baker of Rio Vista. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Kyle Baker, Jenna (Durflinger) Reilly, Trevor Durflinger, Jake Durflinger, and Adam Harris-Durflinger, and a devoted great-grandmother to Michaela Baker, Jack Baker, Hudson Durflinger, Harper Reilly, and Mac Reilly. Her family was the center of her world, and she found her greatest joy in watching it grow.
Pat devoted her professional life to education. As a respected and caring educator, she inspired generations of students with her patience, wisdom, and steady encouragement. Pat believed deeply in the power of learning and in the potential of every child who walked into her classroom.
In her retirement years, Pat made her home in the Summerset community in Brentwood where she traveled and socialized with many dear friends and community clubs.
Pat will be remembered for her warmth, her steadfast dedication to her family, her commitment to her students, and the quiet strength with which she lived her life. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she shaped, both at home and in the classroom.
A private family service will be held to honor her memory.
