Patricia “Poody” Ann (Blanton) Forester of Newark, DE passed away peacefully after a long illness on February 18, 2026 at the age of 78. She was born on March 24, 1947 in Chester, PA, to the late William Blanton Sr. and Madeline (Sweeney) Blanton. She was the wife of the late Gerald Forester, who after they married raised their five sons in Folcroft, PA prior to moving as a family to Wilmington, DE. She was the loving mother to Terrence Forester (Wendy), Robert Forester (Gina), Gary Forester (Kim), Mike Forester, and Patrick Forester (Heather). Mommom Poody to Alyssa Forester, Megan Forester, Macy King (Justin), Laura Forester, Daniel Forester, Jason Forester, Dr. Emily Forester, Amanda Forester, Jordan Forester, Jack Forester, Reagan Forester, and Fiona Forester, as well as Great-grandmother to Yvette Forester. She was the oldest of three children. Sister to Linda DiStefano (late Lou) and her late brother, William Blanton Jr. (Marilyn) and sister in law to Kathleen Forester, late Thomas Forester (Veronica), James Forester (Olga), late John “Jack” Forester, Dennis Forester (Karen), and David Forester. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Poody was an avid softball player as a child and a graduate of Notre Dame High School in Chester, PA and looked forward to her yearly class reunions. She was passionate and proud about so many things in life. She would share stories about raising her sons, attending their sporting events, family gatherings and adventures, family outings to Booths Corner, and how pleased she was of the accomplishments of not only her boys, but her grandchildren as well. Poody was extremely proud to be an American and was honored that her late husband, Gerald and sons Terrence and Robert served in the United States Army. She was also an accomplished business woman who built her own marketing empire, Forester Communications. While running her own company she developed numerous connections with her clients and friends in varied organizations. She was well known in her “Wonder Woman” circle of friends and would often share the fun times she had with this group of business women. She truly loved the bond that she had with these ladies. Anyone that knew Poody, was well aware of her gift of story telling. She would look forward every year to watching the Philadelphia Mummers and Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parades. She even was fortunate enough to attend a Rose Parade on one of her many trips to California to visit family, which she truly enjoyed and looked forward to. Poody also in her later years loved to go on cruises, where she not only enjoyed the entertainment, but also playing in the casinos.
She was a woman that was filled with life and fought a hard fight until she passed. She would want everyone to remember her for all of her amazing connections she had with each of you and the accomplishments she is well known for. She was a real firecracker, hard worker, caring spouse, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, as well as someone you could have a lot of fun with. She will forever be known for her famous snookiesnockie dish, love of coffee and cheese curls, Peaky Blinders (Cillian Murphy), Jeopardy knowledge (she knew everything), ability to quote lines from movies, being a Philadelphia sports fan (she loved her sports), swimming, and paving the way for women to flourish successfully as leaders. We know she is already planning her next business venture in heaven because the “Marketing Queen” will live on forever. Poody will now be reunited with her husband Gerald, parents, and all of her loved ones and friends that have gone before her. A memorial service will be held at a later date and more information will be shared once this is arranged. In lieu of flowers, donations in Patricia’s name to the Parkinson's Foundation Mid-Atlantic Chapter at www.parkinson.org/midatlantic, will be appreciated.
