Patricia Ann "Pat" Garey passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 2, 2026, at Sunrise Assisted Living in Scottsdale, Arizona, 9 days shy of 92.
Born in Davenport, Iowa, and raised in Quincy, Illinois, Patricia lived a life defined by grit, determination, and an unwavering commitment to doing things well. She believed deeply in showing up, working hard, and finishing what she started. Once Pat set her mind to something, she did not take no for an answer—her resolve, perseverance, and stick-to-itiveness were unmatched.
Pat cared deeply for people and took great pride in doing a good job in every role she held, whether as a wife, a mother, a professional, a homemaker, or a friend. Known for her strong work ethic and high standards, she earned the trust and respect of colleagues and clients throughout her long and successful real estate career with Baird & Warner in Flossmoor, Illinois. She approached her work—and her life—with focus, discipline, and integrity.
Her Christian faith was central to who she was and guided her values, decisions, and outlook on life. She took special joy in sharing her faith with her children and lived with a sense of purpose, independence, and inner strength. Pat left a lasting impression on those who knew her through both her actions and her example.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Betty Milton; her husband, Roger W. Garey; and her brothers, John and Stephen. Patricia is survived by her brother, George Milton; her children, Susan Pugh Brown, Robert W. Pugh, Gay Pugh Lux, Roger Garey Jr., and Deborah Lovell; along with beloved extended family.
Pat will be remembered as a woman of resolve, character, and determination—someone who got things done and did them well. Her life stands as a lasting testament to perseverance, strength, and faith in Jesus.
