Patricia B. Hardman

Patricia B. Hardman, 79, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2026, in Williamsburg, Virginia, after a year-long battle with cancer. She fought bravely and is at peace. Patsy was born on August 12, 1946, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Earl Baggerly and Catherine Davis Baggerly.

Patsy is survived by her daughter, Carin Barber (Jim); son, Mark Hardman (Veronica); sister, Cathy New; brother-in-law, Rob Hardman (Sue); and four beloved grandchildren, Lucy and Charlie Barber, and Lauren and Ema Hardman.

Patsy graduated from the Lovett School in Atlanta and earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia in 1968, where she was a member of Phi Mu Fraternity. She worked for many years as a social worker for the City of Newport News. For decades, she watched her children in swim meets and was clerk-of-course for U.S. Swimming, and in retirement, she enjoyed going to the pool with her grandchildren. A favorite memory was riding bicycles with all four grandchildren in the neighborhood parade for the Fourth of July.

Patsy was an avid reader and belonged to several book clubs. She enjoyed Bible study, gardening, the symphony, traveling, and watching college sports. Patsy’s favorite teams to cheer for were her alma mater, the Georgia Bulldogs, and the Virginia Tech Hokies, where both of her children attended.

A private memorial service led by family member Reverend Sue Hardman will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026.
