Patricia Theresa Kloster (Hrdlicka), age 97, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2026.
Born and raised in a loving family in South St. Louis City, her home was filled with stories and laughter thanks to her Mother Regina (Mundwiller) and Father Edward. Pat graduated from Notre Dame High School. She shared her wonderful sense of humor with her sisters, Margie Kamp and Phyllis Droste, her brother EJ Hrdlicka, and later with her many nieces and nephews. Her best friend Audrey Kloster introduced her brother George, marking the start of an extraordinary 80-year love story. George preceded her in death.
For more than 70 years, Pat was a faithful parishioner of Seven Holy Founders Catholic Church in Affton. She loved entertaining family and friends at their lake home, playing cards, tennis, and golf at Westborough Country Club, and traveling. Deeply committed to service, she cooked chili for the homeless, volunteered with the St. Vincent de Paul Society, the SHF Ladies Sodality, as a hospital candy striper, at the Missouri Botanical Gardens, the DeMenil Mansion, worked the yearly SHF Red Cross Blood Drive, and hosted annual card parties to fundraise for Our Little Haven. Though she traveled and was always active, Pat's heart was always in St. Louis with her family.
Quick-witted, kind, and loving, Pat was the life of the party and the first to offer a word of support. If you needed action and speed to get something done, you called Pat. A true force of nature, she radiated kindness, caring, and joy. No matter where she went in St. Louis—Schnuck's, Panera, or anywhere else—she knew someone. She was a gift to everyone who experienced her warmth and laughter.
Pat was immensely proud of her children and their accomplishments, remaining actively engaged with the family until the end, still making everyone laugh. She was comforted in her final days by the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. She is survived by her children and their spouses: George Kloster (Jr.); Karl and Karen Kloster; Kevin and Lynne Kloster; Karen and Michael Griese; and Kristy and David Carrithers; 19 grandchildren: Konner, Kara, Morgan, Kasey, Jamie, Michael, Kyle, Devin, Timmi, George, Jordan, Kevin, Kyle, Kate, Charlie, Sam, Gus, Annie, Carolyn, and Joey; 28 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Seven Holy Founders Catholic Church, 6741 S. Rock Hill Rd., St. Louis, MO 63123.
