Patricia Elizabeth Mathis, aged 85, passed away on January 3, 2026, in Grand Rapids, MI. Born on November 16, 1940, Patricia graduated from Cass Tech High School and furthered her education in nursing school, dedicating hekr early career to the Grand Rapids Osteopathic Hospital. She later left nursing to support her husband's business ventures.
Patricia was known for embodying the fruit of the spirit, a testament to her character and the way she lived her life. She was a regular at Brown and Hutchinsons, where she participated in various community and spiritual activities.
Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Lee Mathis Sr., her son Daryl A. Mathis, and daughter-in-law Juanita Mathis. She is survived by her son, Walter Lee Mathis Jr.; daughter, Melissa Mathis; and daughter Dr. Tracy Blount (Gene).
Services to honor Patricia life will be held on January 17th, with a family hour at 11 am followed by a service at 12 pm.
