Patricia Ann Youngren (née McDermott), age 94, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2026, in Waxhaw, North Carolina. Born on August 20, 1931, in Batavia, Illinois, Patricia lived a full and vibrant life marked by creativity, adventure, and deep devotion to her family.
On April 21, 1956 Patricia married Larry Roland Youngren of Aurora, Illinois. Larry served as an Air Force pilot, and together they embraced a life of travel and exploration. One of the most memorable chapters of their journey was a three-year assignment in Australia—a time filled with discovery and cherished experiences that remained close to Patricia's heart.
Patricia had an extraordinary eye for beauty and detail. She possessed a natural talent for interior decoration and brought warmth and elegance to every space she touched. Her skills as a seamstress were equally impressive; she crafted countless pieces with care and precision. Among her most beloved creations were the hand-knitted Christmas stockings she made for many family members—each one a treasured keepsake that will continue to bring joy during the holidays for generations to come.
A true artist at heart, Patricia was constantly immersed in creative pursuits. Whether knitting, crafting, or designing something new, she always had a project underway. Her artistic spirit was matched by her love of fun—she never missed the chance to join in a lively game of Gin Rummy at family gatherings, where her infectious laugh often rang out above the shuffle of cards.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Edith McDermott and two brothers.
She is survived by daughters Sandi Cavell and Shayla Frank (Joe). Grandchildren Richard Cavell, Ashley Biscupski (AJ) and Katie Brewer (Jeremiah ). Great-grandchildren Zane and Bryce Brewer.
