Patrick Bemis

Patrick Michael "Pat" Bemis, 60, passed away on November 21, 2025 after a brief illness. He died at Gosnell Hospice surrounded by family. Pat was the fifth child of Charles and Yvonne (VanBaerlem) Bemis, born on November 5, 1965, in Portland.

Pat grew up in Portland and attended Portland schools.
He worked at B & M for many years, as well as the Seadogs organization, and most recently was employed by Hub Furniture.

Pat had a lifelong passion for sports, particularly hockey and baseball. He was an avid fan of the Boston Bruins of the 1970s and enjoyed listening to broadcasts of the old Bruins games that he found on the internet. Growing up, Pat and his brothers and neighborhood friends spent days playing hockey on the ice at Deering Oaks, and baseball at the ballfield down the street. Later on when he had his own sons, time spent on the baseball field with them, and even just tossing the ball around with them was especially meaningful to him.

Music also played a role in Pat's life at one point. A skilled drummer, he and his brother John, on bass, along with some of their friends practiced in their garage. They played a lot of Black Sabbath, it could get loud.

When not working, Pat was often outside doing yard work, and he enjoyed spending time on the beach at Old Orchard Beach.

Pat is remembered by his sons, Patrick Bemis Jr. and Christopher Bemis; his sister, Evelyn McGeough; his brothers, John Bemis, Richard Bemis, and Charles Bemis; and his niece, Emily Gordon. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Yvonne Bemis.
