Patrick Stephen Jones

Born in Greenville, South Carolina to the late Frederick Farr Jones and Mildred Janelle Gambrell Jones on November 10, 1946. A lifelong Greenvillian, he graduated from Greenville high, attended Gardner-Webb University and enlisted into the Air Force rather than be drafted during the Vietnam war. Mechanically inclined, he was always interested in cars and motorcycles but was drawn to the artistic side of things and thoroughly enjoyed all kinds of music.

Over the years, Pat enjoyed working in a variety of different businesses. From his father's drugstore Main Street Pharmacy, to the US Air Force, Rey's Jewelers, Snyder's Auto, import car repair, Carols Records and primal screen and finally at John finger Mazda where he fell in love with miatas and often was referred to as the Miata doctor and helped found the local Foothill Miata Club..

Pat and his wife Debbie Knebel drag raced motorcycles with AMA ProStar for 12years all over the country and loved the comradiery of their racing family which extends world wide and social media still connects.

Recently Pat had joined the South Carolina Treasure and Artifact Association with Debbie, when she became interested in metal detecting. Pat always had an interest in history and enjoyed the meetings and especially seeing what the members in the group had found as well as learning more about coins.

Pat was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Brian and twins Barry and Barbara. Pat leaves behind his wife of 39 years Debbie Knebel, daughter, Stephanie Steiner, grandson Lee Holmes and daughter, Allyson O'Brien (Conner), brother, Fred Jones, sister in laws Myra Jones (Brian) and Charlotte Jones (Barry), in laws Karen and Dave Menzer and Beth and Tom Maskell as well as numerous nephews and nieces and his beloved life saving Daisy.

In addition Pat was affectionately known as OlBupp, an endearing term similar to a pal or bud and reserved for a group of friends known as Olbupps. Too many have gone before to name but those that remain know who they are and are dearly loved.

Pat was truly a very kind and loving soul and often said if he were to die today he would have no regrets. I know he would want others to live that way, love others and show compassion for his fellow man.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, April 26, 2026 at The Skunk Farm, 4067 Jordan Rd, Greer, SC, 3pm to 6pm

There will be music. Reedy River String Band will play, so this is to truly be joyous.

BYO chair, BYO drink, (NO glass!!!) BYO Memories!!

If you wish to bring a snack we will have some tables set up to share.

Tie Dye, Overalls, Hawaiian Shirts will be the norm....as I said - CASUAL!!!!

This will be a very informal gathering of friends and family to share stories and enjoy one another's company. Please dress for the weather with comfortable, outdoor shoes! Rain or Shine and very limited cover from the elements. (Prayers for weather to cooperate appreciated). This location is where we spent many hours enjoying the music and helping out at the Albino Skunk Music Festival. Soak in this space as it is so very peaceful.

Our sincere thanks to Glynn "Zig" Zeigler and all the Skunk family for allowing us to congregate there. My hope is that you will take home some memories and feel blessed from this gathering. God bless you and safe travels!
