Patrick David Palmer

Patrick David Palmer, 70, of Louisville, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Norton St. Matthews. A lifelong Louisvillian, he was born on August 27, 1955, to the late Emmett Leland Palmer and Hazel Palmer Arnold.

Pat graduated from Bishop David High School in 1973 and went on to attend the University of Louisville, where he developed a love for the Cardinals. He dedicated 37 years of service to Louisville Gas & Electric, retiring at age 60 with a reputation for hard work and dependability.

In retirement, Pat embraced the outdoors which he had always loved. Whether fishing on a quiet morning or heading into the woods for deer or turkey season, he found peace and joy in nature. He was happiest when sharing those moments with family and friends, passing along stories, traditions, and his deep appreciation for the outdoors.

Above all else, Pat was a devoted and loving husband, father, and "Pappaw". He took great pride in his family and found his greatest happiness in time spent together, especially watching his grandchildren grow. Known for his quick wit and sense of humor, Pat was always ready with a joke and had a way of making those around him smile. He will be remembered for his steady presence, his kindness, and the genuine care he showed to everyone around him.

Along with his parents, Pat was preceded in death by his brother, Stephen M. Palmer.

Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Judy; sister, Mary Lee (Ron) Arnold; children, Patrick Ryan (Lauren) Palmer and Allyson (Kendall) Herdelin; five grandchildren, Ada, Lucy, and Eloise Palmer, and August and Magnus Herdelin; along with many nieces, nephews, family, and dear friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 4, 2026 from 2 - 4 p.m. at The Bonnycastle Club, 1951 Bonnycastle Ave, Louisville, KY.
