Patrick Richard Riley, 75, of Salt Lake City, Utah passed away Sunday January 11, 2026 surrounded by loved ones.
Born on March 17, 1950 in Salt Lake City, to Leo Edward Riley and Patricia Connole Riley. He was a loving father to Kristina Riley Morrison, Elizabeth Ashley Morrison, Amorena (Elizabeth) Riley-Phemister, and Michele Swenson.
He proudly served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War and held all those who served very near to his heart.
Dad embodied love, radiated joy and was a tireless helper to his core. He took his role as the fun uncle very seriously. He was a man of many skills and talents but worked best with his hands. He could fix just about anything if he had the right tools, good music and full pack of cigarettes.
He lived his life to the fullest, leaving a lasting impact on all those who met him. The life he lived reminds us that family, friends, love and fun are the things that make the precious time we have on earth worthwhile. He loved classic cars, had impeccable taste in music, and had a knack for saying the most inappropriate things at the most appropriate times.
He is survived by his daughters, Kristina Riley Morrison, Elizabeth Morrison, Amorena Riley-Phemister and Michele Swenson. His grandchildren Hallie Morrison, April Guzman, Chase Swenson and Gage Orion Phemister. His siblings Kay (Jerry) and Duffy (Jan). Julie Morrison, mother to Kristina and Elizabeth. Along with many more nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that will miss him dearly.
Our heartfelt gratitude goes to the incredible staff at the Salt Lake VA Hospital that cared for Dad with the utmost grace and dignity in his final days. In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made in his name to The Salt Lake City VA Hospital or The Human Society of Utah.
