Paul Joseph Allgair, 80, of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 16th, 2026. In making phone calls to close friends and family there were a few throughlines amongst the responses. His colleagues and loved ones said that Paul was a “hell of a man,” spoke of his resilience, honesty, how knowledgeable he was, and how no matter how much time had passed, talking to him felt like no time passed at all.” It was humbling to hear how many people considered him a mentor and one of their most valued friends.
On a cold January afternoon in Bound Brook, New Jersey, Paul Joseph Allgair was born to Betty Jane Vaughn and Theodore Herman Allgair. He spent his early life growing up in High Bridge and Sunset Lake, NJ with his parents, older brother Teddy and younger sister, Linda. After graduating high school with his diploma, Paul was drafted into the Marine Corps. There he served two years including a 13 month tour in Vietnam. At the time of discharge, Paul left the Corps having attained the rank of Corporal and having been awarded a Purple Heart Medal and a Presidential Unit Citation. Upon returning to the United States, he began his career in truck sales and married his first wife Carolyn Theresa Faircloth. Paul and Carolyn were blessed with three children during their time together, Clinton, Eric, and Kristen. In the next chapter of his life, he started his own business, Compass Trading and Equipment, and met his second wife, Lisa Wall. Paul and Lisa had two children, Jayme and Jacob. Paul spent the later years of his life in Stroudsburg where he enjoyed collecting spotting scopes, target shooting, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his friends and family.
Throughout his life, Paul had many hobbies that stemmed from his curiosity and desire to understand the world around him. He was an avid boater, fisherman, car enthusiast, skeet shooter, hunter, golfer, as well as a lover of good cigars and even better bourbon. He made sure to live his life without regret and was known for his insistence in only accepting the best. For better or worse, Paul was always wholly himself, passionate, opinionated, and *almost* always right. Paul is survived by his children Clint and wife Jennifer, Eric and wife Deborah, Kristen and husband Rick, Jayme and wife Gwen, and Jacob; his sister Linda Jane Molesky; and his grandchildren Jerry Caporale, Josh Costa, and Emily Allgair. He is preceded in death by his mother, Betty Jane Vaughn, his father, Theodore Herman Allgair, and his brother Theodore Herman Allgair.
In life Paul made annual donations to local charities that funded meals for veterans, the VFW, and the Wounded Warriors Project. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in his name to an organization helping veterans. A celebration of life will be held for close friends and family.
