🕊️ Full Obituary (Final – Legacy)
Paul Bernard Cunningham, 57, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026, at 5:30 p.m.
Paul was born on March 5, 1969, in Minnesota, where he was raised and built a life grounded in hard work, connection, and a love for the outdoors. In the last few years of his life, he made his home in Arizona, where he continued to live with the same spirit of independence and appreciation for life that defined him. It was only in his final months that he became aware of his illness, which he faced with quiet strength.
Paul dedicated his career to the skilled trade of sheet metal work, where his craftsmanship and strong work ethic reflected the pride he took in everything he did.
He was a deeply social and thoughtful man—wise, hardworking, and reflective—someone who could connect with anyone and leave a lasting impression. Paul found joy in both adventure and simplicity. He loved fishing, attending concerts, restoring classic cars, traveling, and riding his motorcycle. He especially cherished time outdoors, whether boating, tubing, skiing, snowmobiling, or four-wheeling. Above all, he valued time spent with others and had a special love for dogs, especially his companions, Archie and Ajax.
Throughout his life, Paul shared a meaningful bond with Darci Ruscheinsky, his former partner and the mother of his children. They supported one another through many seasons of life, and her care and presence during his final months brought him comfort and strength.
Paul is survived by his sister, Valarie Lang (Rodger Lang); his son, Paul Cunningham Ruscheinsky; and his beloved daughter, Jessica Ruscheinsky, whom he took in and raised as his own. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Jaxon Kuiper and Isaiah Lindstrom, who brought him great pride and joy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Margaret Cunningham, and his brothers, Charlie Cunningham and James Cunningham.
Paul’s life was a testament to dedication, resilience, and love for both family and friends. He will be remembered for his wisdom, his presence, and the way he made others feel seen and valued.
A Funeral Mass will be held on April 15, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. James Roman Catholic Parish. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate Paul’s life.
A celebration of life will also be held in Minnesota at a later date, with details to be announced.
May he rest in peace.
