Paul James Hutchinson, aged 77, passed away on February 16, 2026, in Erie, Pennsylvania. Born on September 2, 1948, in Corry, Pennsylvania, Paul led a life marked by dedication, service, and the joy of simple pleasures.
Paul attended St. Edward’s Catholic School followed by Corry Area High School. He furthered his education in the military, training as an engineer. Paul honorably served as an Army SP4 during the Vietnam War, where he was recognized for his sharpshooting skills. After his military service, he worked as a heavy equipment operator at Epcot Center in Florida and later in manufacturing in Corry, and at Better Baked Foods in North East, Pennsylvania, before his retirement. Paul also was a former president and member of the North East Athletic Club where he made many friends.
A man of faith, Paul was a former member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Corry, PA, and St. Gregory Catholic Church in North East, PA. He found solace and community in church.
Paul was known for his love of fishing and gardening, hobbies that brought him immense pleasure and peace. He was also a proud veteran who cherished time spent laughing with friends and family, enjoying his favorite strawberry rhubarb pie, playing with his beloved cat Spanky, and watching Steeler games.
Paul is survived by his sister, Suzanne Chase; sister-in-law, Helen Hutchinson (wife of his late brother Dale); and multiple nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends including Jennifer and Jeff. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Joan (Donoghue) Hutchinson and Clarence Smith Hutchinson; siblings, Judith (Hutchinson) Bisbee, Dale Richard Hutchinson, and Joseph Karl Hutchinson; and his ex-wife Jan.
Paul's final wishes were to be honored with a service with full military honors, and his interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Burton Quinn-Scott Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements.
