Born December 10, 1944 in Chattanooga, TN to Eula Bell Jones and Hugh Jamison Murdoch, Paul is preceded in death by his mother and father, Eula Bell and Hugh Jamison, his older sister Peggy, and his wife Anne Marie Miller Murdoch. Paul is survived by his younger sister Sandra Murdoch Withers and her family John, Trey, Ashley and Mary; his daughter Cortney Nance Varazendah and her family, Babak, Mina and Roya; his son Hugh Jamison Murdoch and his family, Jennifer, Ben and Nate; and his step-son Gene Charlotte and his children Cole, Cooper, Nora and Ellory.
Paul grew up in Pennsylvania where he enjoyed sports including ice hockey and basketball. In his teens, he moved to Myrtle Beach, SC with his mother and younger sister. He continued playing basketball through high school, while in the summers he served as a life guard on the public beaches. Paul graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Masters in Business Administration and moved to Greenville to start his life with his first wife, Martha Plummer and their two children, Cortney and Jamie. There he began his lifelong career in advertising/market research with the Henderson Advertising agency.
Paul later separated from Martha and after a time married Anne Marie Miller and, with her sons Michael and Gene, began a new chapter of his life. In the early 80s, Anne and Paul packed all the kids and dogs and moved from Greenville to Atlanta where they lived until they retired.
Paul was active (and competitive) his whole life, committing fully to such sport and leisure as: ice hockey, basketball, lifeguarding, go carting, racquetball, scuba diving, race car building and racing, marathon running, sailing and of course golfing.
He loved animals, laughing and arguing with friends, eating and drinking, and he especially enjoyed being right about everything.
