Paul R. Norris, Jr., 88, passed away peacefully on Christmas morning, surrounded by family.
Paul was born in Mason City, Illinois, to Paul R. Norris, Sr. and Carmen Evelyn (Lynch) Norris, both of whom preceded him in death. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ivy Norris, of Lancaster, Ohio, and his children: Steve (Kaye) Norris of Redding, California; Cyndy (Larry) Sharpe of Roanoke, Virginia; Dustin (Libby) Norris of Columbus, Ohio; Kelley (Domonique) Norris of Columbus, Ohio; Christie (Chris) Miller of Columbus, Ohio; and Carrie Tubaugh of Columbus, Ohio.

A man of discipline and determination, Paul was an avid golfer who, alongside his lifelong friend Gary Shyu, committed to golfing every day for an entire year—rain, snow, or shine—and proudly achieved that goal.
Paul was also an accomplished pilot whose love of aviation began early. Licensed at just 15 years old, he went on to found the flying club at Southern Illinois University. He earned certifications to fly nearly every aircraft category and became a Certified Flight Instructor, sharing his passion and knowledge
with others throughout his life.
After earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Southern Illinois University, Paul owned and operated his own HVAC business. True to his character, he pursued mastery in his work and was certified across all aspects of his trade, achieving lasting professional success.
Paul was a 32nd Degree Mason in the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Fort Wayne, Indiana, a distinction that reflected his commitment to fraternity, service, and lifelong self-improvement.
Curious and committed to lifelong learning, Paul embraced music in retirement, teaching himself saxophone, piano, ukulele, and guitar. He found special joy playing alongside his loyal dog, Piper, whose singing often brought Paul to tears—either from laughter or happiness.
Paul lived with purpose, curiosity, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. His life was truly one well lived.
