Paulette (Simpson) Henderson March 31, 1945 - January 29, 2026
Paulette Henderson died January 29th following an extended illness. Paulette was a graduate of Locust Valley High School and Cornell University. Much of her career was devoted to international education beginning with a two-year tour teaching French at a secondary school in Ghana. As part of a demonstration project at PS 75 and other schools, Paulette taught ESL classes to parents who wanted to better understand how to support their children's progress. For several years, Paulette was an instructor in the International English Language Institute at Hunter College. Paulette rose to the rank of Professor in the faculty of Borough of Manhattan Community College. Paulette earned a Doctorate in multilingual and multicultural studies from NYU based on the challenges and successes of students mastering English as a Second Language. Paulette is survived by her husband John Henderson, son Michael Henderson, and sister Hester Simpson.
