Pauline Gertrude Wood

1936 - 2026

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and matriarch, Pauline Gertrude (Evans) Wood, who entered eternal rest on the 14th of February 2026 at the age of 89.

Pauline was a woman of unwavering faith, deep love, and quiet strength — a steady rock through life’s many storms and a guiding light to all who knew her. Her life was a testament to devotion, resilience, and unconditional love.
She was born 29 June 1936 in Snohomish Washington to Emma Lena Roe (1917-1983) and Harry Edward Evans Sr. (1902-1957). She was raised alongside her brother, Harry Edward Evans Jr. (1938-2003).

In 1953, she moved to the Sparks area, where she met the love of her life, John Silas Wood (1925-1999). They were married on the 6th of June 1954, beginning a devoted partnership rooted in faith, love, and family.
She was the proud and loving mother of five children: John Joseph (1955-1980), Daniel David (1959-1965), Vicki Lorraine (1965), Sandra Danell (1967) and Cindy Marie (1975). Family was always central to Pauline and her love for her children was steadfast and unconditional.

She was a cherished grandmother to seventeen: John’s children: Jason and JoAnna. Vicki’s children: Cody, Alyssa and Tristan. Sandra’s children: Kristalle, Tiffany, Dustin, Brandon, Seth and Schon. Cindy’s children: Cobie, Bode, Chloe, Danny, Tommy and Ellie, a loving great-grandmother to soon-to-be thirteen, and a treasured great-great-grandmother of three. Her legacy lives on in each generation she helped shape with her wisdom, kindness, and unconditional love.

Throughout her life, she faced hardships with grace and resilience. Her devotion to her faith carried her through unimaginable loss. Even in grief, she remained a source of comfort and strength for her family, showing us what it means to persevere with dignity and trust in God.

She found joy in life’s simple and beautiful moments. She loved painting and gardening, often expressing her creativity through color and nurturing life with her hands. Whether tending her flowers or creating something meaningful on canvas, she found peace in the beauty of the world around her.

Those who knew her will remember her gentle spirit, her steadfast prayers, and the way she made everyone feel seen and cared for. She had a gift for offering comfort without judgment and love without limits. Her home was a place of warmth, faith, and family — a reflection of the life she built and the values she held dear.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother; her beloved eternal companion John Silas Wood; her sons John Joseph Wood and Daniel David Wood; and two grandchildren, losses she carried with remarkable strength and dignity. Though those heartbreaks would have broken many, she continued to move forward with steadfast faith, holding tightly to the belief that love endures beyond this life.

She is survived by her daughters Vicki, Sandra, and Cindy; seventeen grandchildren, soon-to-be thirteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Though our hearts are broken, we find peace in knowing she is reunited with those she loved and is now resting in the arms of her Savior. Her love remains woven into our lives, guiding us forward and reminding us that family is forever.

She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday the 28th of February 2026 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2955 Rock Blvd., Sparks, NV at 10:00am. With burial to follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
