Pearlean Campbell (affectionately known as "Pearl"), age 82, of Gary, Indiana, peacefully passed away on December 21, 2025, in Gary, Indiana.
Pearlean was born on January 31, 1943, in Winchester, Arkansas. She accepted Christ at the tender age of 13 at St. Pasgah A.M.E. Church, beginning a lifelong walk of faith, service, and unwavering devotion to God.
In 1960, Pearlean relocated to Gary, Indiana, where she later graduated from Emerson High School in 1963. That same year, she united in holy matrimony with Albert Campbell. She faithfully followed her husband to Old Path Church, where her commitment to God and family was evident in her daily life.
Beginning in 1980, Pearlean served faithfully at Old Path Church, under the leadership of Apostle Lynnell Walters, as President of the Pastoral Aid Committee and a devoted member of the Usher Board and Mothers Board. Every Sunday, she lovingly prepared dinner before going to church. After service, she would take a plate of food to feed her mother Annie, her Aunt Claudine, and her mother-in-law Dorothy, demonstrating a servant's heart and Christlike compassion.
She was employed for many years at Spiegel in Chicago and later at Carson's, where she was known for her diligence and integrity.
Even as dementia sought to challenge her, Pearlean's faith never wavered. She rose every morning, dressed herself for church, and remained steadfast in prayer. Though her memory faded, her spirit never wandered from serving God. She always knew how and when to pray—her heart anchored firmly in faith until the very end.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving children: Linda (Preston) Meux, Pearlean Theresa, Pashion, and Albert Dewayne (Veronica) Campbell. She was a devoted grandmother to Landen, Bryant, Branden, T'ona, Chialyn, Matthew, John, Ta'Lemia and Preston Jr. and a proud great-grandmother to Adriyen , Amira 4 Great-Grand Josh Josiah Julian and Angeles. . She also leaves to cherish her memory her beloved godsons, Samuel Rhymes, Leroy Jennings Jr. and Apostle Joseph Walters, and her dear best friends, Bernice Madden, Sheila Ashford and Hattie Johnson. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends will truly miss her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Albert Campbell; her son, Louvaniel; her parents, Louvaniel, Alberta Merrill, and Annie Merrill; her sister, Birda Russell; her brother, Willie Harris; her mother-in-law, Dorothy Burnett; and her brother-in-law, Terry Burnett.
