Send Flowers
Peggy Ann Addy (formerly Xenakis), born on January 17, 1944, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2025, at the age of 81 in Novi, Michigan.
Peggy's life was marked by her joyful spirit, her nonjudgmental acceptance of all, and her remarkable ability to live in the moment despite numerous personal challenges.
After the untimely death of her father when she was just two years old, her mother remarried, but was diligent about keeping Peggy and her younger sister Sandra connected with their birth father's family and its rich Greek cultural heritage.
She graduated from Edwin Denby High School in Detroit in 1962. Despite her autism spectrum disorder, Peggy excelled as a keypunch operator for Detroit Bank and Trust and the American Red Cross, where her precision and verification skills were highly valued.
Peggy's quirky personality and childlike spirit were truly unique. Known for her savant-like abilities with numbers and her photographic memory, she also had a deep love for children's literature and animal storybooks. Her hobbies included an extensive music collection, word search puzzles, and playing cards. She delighted in teaching new card games to her nieces and nephews.
She was a longtime member of the Assumption Grotto parish in Detroit, where her family was actively involved.
Peggy is survived by her sisters: Sandra Jean Xenakis, Kathleen Renee (Robert) Taylor (nee Addy), and Susan Marie (Matthew) Kramek (nee Addy), along with their children and grandchildren, who cherished their Aunt Peggy. She was predeceased by her birth father, James Xenakis; her mother, Renee (Xenakis) Addy (nee Choate); and her adoptive father, David V. Addy, Jr.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 11:00am at St. Dunstan's Chapel, Christ Church Cranbrook, 470 Church Rd, Bloomfield Hills, MI.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Peggy's memory can be made to: Nurturing Hands, c/o D. Knox Residential, 32455 West 12 Mile Rd, Unit 2845, Farmington Hills, MI 48333-2845, a compassionate team of caregivers who provided immense support in Peggy's final months.
