Original owner of Hill’s Restaurant
89 years of age, formerly of Catasauqua, passed away peacefully in her Northampton home early Thursday morning, February 19, 2026, embraced in prayer and love by her children. She was the widow of the late Orval L. Nelson, who passed away in 1996, and the late Wilbur E. Hill, Sr., who passed away in 1985. Together, she and Wilbur operated Hill’s Restaurant on Bridge Street in Catasauqua until 1996, when their son, Wilbur E. Hill, Jr., purchased the restaurant, becoming the third-generation owner.
Born in Catasauqua, she was a daughter of the late Leroy Park and Margaret May (McNeil) Davies. Peggy was a longtime member of Annunciation BVM Catholic Church in Catasauqua and was a dedicated kitchen volunteer for many years. She recently became a member of Queenship of Mary Catholic Church in Northampton.
Peggy was deeply committed to the well-being of her family, friends, and neighbors, often serving as a caregiver to elderly residents, providing food and clothing to those in need, and offering help wherever it was required.
Most recently she enjoyed being a part of the Northampton Senior Center. In prior years she was a member of the Red Hat Society and was a former Girl Scout leader. She was an avid gardener and a fierce card shark who loved to play Bunko. Self-taught in knitting and crocheting, she created countless handmade treasures for loved ones and community. Above all, Peggy's greatest treasure was her extended family, whom she loved unwaveringly.
She is survived by her daughters, Faye Ann Keller with her husband Frank, with whom she resided; Gail Williams with her husband David; Lisa Herman with her husband Demitry; and her son, Wilbur Hill, with his fiancé Janice Jones.
Peggy was blessed with many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and their families. She is also survived by her sisters, Nancy Belzecky, Carole Miller, and Diane Held; her sister-in-law, Doris Davies; her brother-in-law, Donald Hill and his wife, Debbie; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She was predeceased by her former daughter-in-law Rosalind “Rossie” (Transue) Hill in 2025, her sister Shirley Valentine, and her brother Donald Davies.
The family expresses deep gratitude to Peggy’s caregivers, Larrette and Carlene, for their loving support, kindness, and exceptional care for the entire family.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Msgr. Victor F. Finelli on Friday, February 27, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. in Annunciation Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Second and Union Streets, in Catasauqua, where her viewing will begin at 9:00 a.m. Interment in Zion Stone Church Cemetery, New Ringgold, will be at the convenience of her family.
In lieu of flowers—especially during this season of Lent—the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made in Peggy's honor to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 Saint Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 (www.stjude.org), or to Annunciation BVM Parish, 122 Union Street, Catasauqua, PA 18032.
