Peggy Ann Schaefer, age 74, entered her final rest on January 23, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas. Born on January 31, 1951, Peggy brought warmth and joy to those around her throughout her life.
Peggy had a natural flair for fashion, cosmetics, and perfume—an eye for beauty that led her into a fulfilling career spanning over four decades. She worked as a Fragrance and Cosmetic Advisor at several well-known department stores including Dillard's, JCPenney, and Foley's (later Macy's). Her passion for helping others feel confident and radiant was evident in every interaction she had with customers, friends, and family alike. Whether offering advice on the perfect scent or sharing beauty tips she acquired from experience, Peggy delighted in making others feel special.
She met the love of her life, Herbert Schaefer, and together they welcomed their beautiful daughter, Taryn E. Schaefer. Though Peggy and Herbert later parted ways, their shared bond through Taryn remained a cherished part of their lives.
Peggy found great joy in simple pleasures and meaningful connections. She loved taking road trips to Round Top, Texas to visit family and spent countless hours exploring antique shops with her dear aunt Nootsie (Waldine Banik). These outings were more than just shopping trips—they were treasured moments of laughter and companionship. Visits from her loving cousin Dennis Schmidt always brightened her days and held a special place in her heart.
A true enthusiast of classic country music and western television shows, Peggy often found comfort in the familiar melodies and stories that echoed the spirit of her Texas roots. She also enjoyed browsing through the many catalogs that arrived weekly at her home—each one an opportunity to discover something new or indulge in a favorite find during trips to the mall.
Peggy was preceded in death by her father Bruno M. Schmidt; mother Olivia Veith Schmidt; and former husband Herbert Schaefer.
She is survived by her loving daughter Taryn E. Schaefer.
Peggy will be remembered for being loving, caring, thoughtful, and generous—a woman who gave freely of herself to those she cared about. Her legacy lives on in the memories shared by all who knew her.
