Percy Love Jr.

Percy Love was born on February 7, 1950, to the union of Percy and Roberta Love in Memphis, Tennessee. One year later, he relocated with his parents to Gary, Indiana, where he attended Gary Public Schools. As a young man, Percy met and married his beautiful wife, Carol Taylor. To this union, their only daughter, Jacqueline Marie, was born.
Percy was affectionately known as "Crip" to his family and friends. Blessed with a gift for working with his hands, he spent many years working as a carpenter. He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed preparing his catch after a long day. Percy also loved listening to music and had a wonderful sense of humor that brought joy and laughter to those around him.
On April 3, 2026, Percy was called home to be with his Heavenly Father.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Percy, Sr. and Roberta Love; sisters, Earline Coleman, Barbara Johnson, Betty Ann Love, and Jacqueline Love; brother, John Faulkner; maternal grandparents, Austin and Marie Winston; paternal grandparents, Percy Love and Minnie Williams; father- and mother-in-law, Johnnie and Bernice Taylor; and sister-in-law, Vivian Taylor.
Percy leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Carol; daughter, Jacqueline Marie; grandsons, Shaqwane and Martev Love of Gary, Indiana; and two great-grandsons, Drumir and Dyair Love of Gary, Indiana. He is also survived by his sisters, Gloria (Oscar) Hopkins of Gary, Indiana, and Marianne Acon of Fridley, Minnesota; brothers, Aaron (Tracie) Love of Gary, Indiana, Derrich (Robin) Love of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Thomas and Kenneth Grimes of Gary, Indiana; brother-in-law, Samuel Johnson; sisters-in-law, Susiette Gardner, Augusta Taylor of Gary, Indiana, Denise (Walter) Power of Fort Worth, Texas, Connie (Terrence) Standifer of Warren, Michigan, and Monica Taylor of Atlanta, Georgia; brother-in-law, Johnnie Taylor of Gary, Indiana; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
