Peter James Carignan, 81, of Franklin, NH, died surrounded by family on January 16, 2026 in Concord, NH.
He was born in Franklin, NH in 1944 to Auguste and Edna (Norquist) Carignan. One of 6 children, Peter attended Franklin High School. His practical jokes and great sense of humor kept both family and classmates entertained and in perpetual stitches. If there were shenanigans afoot, you could be sure Peter was involved and, more often than not, the good-hearted instigator.
A proud veteran, Peter served in the Army Infantry during the Vietnam War. Peter was proud of his service and was an active member of the VFW in Franklin, NH. After his military service, Peter became a familiar and always friendly face to his local community, serving as Produce Manager at several local supermarkets until his retirement from Market Basket in Tilton, NH.
Peter will always be remembered for his love of family and his unwavering devotion to his Atlanta Braves. Those who were fortunate enough to have known him couldn't have asked for a better dad, husband, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.
Peter was preceded in death by his parents, Auguste and Edna Carignan, sister, Joyce Beaupre and his son, Peter James Derosier.
Peter is survived by many close and extended family members, including his wife, Christine, son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Michelle Carignan, daughter and son-in-law Russ and Cheryl McLeod, grandchildren, Bailey Carignan, Shane Derosier, Brittney McLeod, Brayden McLeod, Brandon McLeod, Cameron Derosier, brothers Doug and John Carignan, sisters Elaine Kinne and Marcia Rollins, great-grandchildren Kaelyn and Grayson Derosier and many cousins, nephews, nieces and dear friends.
