Peter Sargent Nickerson

Peter Sargent Nickerson, 85, of Homosassa, FL passed away on October 28th, 2025 at Select Specialty Hospital - The Villages in Oxford, FL.

Pete was born on August 4, 1940 to Clifford and Mildred (Schell) Nickerson in Boston, MA. He graduated from Caesar Rodney High School in Camden, DE in 1958 and earned his bachelor's degree at Northeastern University in Boston, MA.

Pete married the love of his life, Marilyn Jenkins on June 30th, 1962, and together they had two children, Sandra and Vicky. Pete and Marilyn resided in Duxbury, MA and enjoyed 52 years of marriage before her passing in 2014.

Pete was a manager at Cornwall Corporation in Boston, MA and co-owner of Colony Tool Supply in Plymouth, MA. In 1982, Pete and Marilyn opened Day Lite Donut Shoppe in Pembroke and Halifax, MA. The couple ran the coffee shops for twenty-two years with their daughters. After that, Pete went on to work at Lowe's in Pembroke, MA and also enjoyed flipping houses in his spare time. He retired at 79 years old but still remained very active.

Pete moved from Duxbury, MA to Homosassa, FL in 2015 to enjoy his retirement. He collected model trains and was a proud member of First State Model Railroad Club in Felton, DE. He enjoyed vacationing with his grandchildren, with special trips to Orlando, FL and the White Mountains, NH every year. Pete was also active in his local community, encouraging neighbors to coordinate and decorate for the holidays.

Pete was cherished by many people, and he will be very deeply missed.

Pete was predeceased by his wife Marilyn Nickerson; parents Clifford Nickerson and Mildred Peterson; step-father Harold "Pete" Peterson; sister Margaret "Peg" McCauley; step-sister Patricia Harlfinger; and son-in-law David Rollock.

Pete is survived by his two children Sandra Rollock and fiancé Kevin Tocci of Duxbury, MA, and Vicky Nickerson of Middleboro, MA; four grandchildren Caitlyn Rollock and husband Johnny of Livermore Falls, ME, Douglas Rollock and wife Kristen of Middleboro, MA, Cassandra Maines and husband Derek of Nashua, NH, and Chelsae Gordon and husband Sean of Sandown, NH; four great-grandchildren Gianna, Addison, Charlotte, and Elizabeth "Lili"; siblings Robert Nickerson, Susan Liberty, Ruth Palo, and Maryann Nickerson; step-sister Shirley Bruno; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends.

A celebration of life will take place on Sunday, November 9th at The Meadow Brook Restaurant, 1486 Main Street, Hanson, MA from 1-3:00pm. Private inurnment to follow at a later date.
