Peter "Panayiotis" Papadas
Peter passed away on November 11, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Pete was born on December 27,1934 in the Village of Vlachiotis, near Sparta, Greece. He came to the United States at the age of seventeen. He proudly served in the United States Army and earned his American citizenship.
He married the love of his life, Vivian, on August 27,1960. Together they created a family, built a home and a successful business. He truly lived "The American Dream" and instilled in his children the virtues of kindness and selflessness. He always took care of others before himself.
Most grandparents wonder "when or if" their grandchildren will call or visit. Pete juggled the many weekly invitations from his grandchildren: Michael, A'ndrea, Courteney and Jesse. Pete's grandchildren were his closest and dearest friends. It was beautiful to watch their relationships develop over the years. So much unconditional love and laughter.
Pete was a fighter who beat cancer four times, and his more recent kidney failure required dialysis three days per week. Each health battle presented him with a life-altering challenge that he would simply adapt to and move on. Nothing stopped him from enjoying his friends, family and life.
Pre-deceased by his wife, Vivian (2021), and daughter Karen (2023). He is survived by his children, Steve, Kay (John Gazdik) and Nick; Grandchildren Michael (Kirsten Mayfield) Gazdik, A'ndrea Gazdik, Courteney Gazdik, Jesse Papadas-Pomante and great granddaughter Yvette Elise.
In Greece, Pete is survived by his beloved sister Μαρία (Maria), and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Στηβ (Steve) and sister Κανέλλα (Kanella).
A celebration of life for family and friends is planned.
