Peter John Wood, age 72, passed away on December 23, 2025, in Edmonton, Alberta. Born on January 4, 1953, in Lachine, Quebec, Peter lived a life marked by dedication to family, a passion for sports, and deep roots in his community.
Peter is lovingly remembered by his wife Helga, his son Chris (Bobbie), his daughters Jenny (Adesh) and Jill (Will), and his cherished granddaughter Aliya. He also leaves behind his brother Rob (Ginny), as well as his sister Linda. Extended family and friends will sorely miss him.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Peter found great joy both on the field and in the stands. In his younger years, he played football with the Edmonton Wildcats—a time that remained a source of pride throughout his life. He was a devoted fan of the Edmonton Eskimos (now Elks), rarely missing a game and always cheering with unwavering loyalty. His love for sports extended to hockey as well; he was an avid supporter of the Edmonton Oilers and followed their seasons with enthusiasm.
Peter's presence brought warmth and camaraderie to those around him. Whether sharing stories about past games or spending time with loved ones, he created lasting memories that will be treasured by all who knew him.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire the same passion for life that he so clearly embodied.
