Petronila "Petra" Tejero, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026, in Miami, Florida, United States. She was 94 years old.

Born on May 31, 1931, in Vueltas, Las Villas, Cuba, Petronila’s life was marked by resilience and an unwavering devotion to her family. In an extraordinary act of selflessness and courage, she and her husband, Jesus, left their homeland of Cuba behind to seek a better future for their daughters in the United States. This decision exemplified her deep love and commitment to providing opportunities for her family.

Petra was predeceased by her husband, Jesus Tejero, with whom she shared a devoted partnership that served as the foundation of their family. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Ignacio Perez Delgado and Rosa Acosta Gonzales, grandson Stephen Arintok, her siblings Adela, Maria (Bure) and Leandro (Nano) . Her memory lives on through her surviving family: her brother Cruz Perez Acosta, her sister Barbara Perez Acosta, her daughters Maria Arintok (Steve), Aida DeColli (Joe), and her cherished granddaughters Adrianna, Danielle (Matt), Gabriella, Sophia, and Alexandra.

Known for her warm hospitality and genuine care for others, Petra had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome. She never met a stranger she didn’t soon consider a friend or a friend she didn’t consider family. Her home was often filled with the aroma of her exceptional cooking and the comforting taste of her amazing cafecito—a testament to the love she poured into everything she did.

Petra found joy in cooking for loved ones, spending time at the casino with friends, and sharing laughter with those around her. Her positive outlook on life and compassionate spirit left an indelible mark on all who knew her. As an attentive wife, mother, and grandmother, she created a legacy of love that continues to shine brightly through her daughters and granddaughters.

Her life was one of generosity and kindness, the ultimate nurturer —a true reflection of someone who lived not just for herself but for those she loved. May Petra's memory bring comfort to all who were fortunate enough to know her.
