Phil "Flip" Bruce, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and dedicated servant of God, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2026, in Plano, Texas. Born on April 14, 1947, in Atlanta, Georgia, Philip lived a life marked by devotion to his family, education, and ministry.

Phil graduated from Cross Keys High School (1965) in Brookhaven GA. He pursued higher education with determination and excellence, earning an MBA degree in Finance from Georgia State University. His passion for spiritual growth and faithful teaching of the Bible led him to further his studies at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, where he studied toward a Master of Divinity (MDiv) degree. These academic achievements reflected his commitment to both professional excellence and his deep faith.

Phil served as 1st Lt in the US Army during the Viet Nam war (1970-72) where he was a combat platoon leader, flying the AH-1G Cobra Gunship. After the war, Phil held banking officer positions with First National Bank Atlanta and Republic National Bank Dallas, before joining IBM Corporation in 1980, retiring in 2010 after a 30 year career.

Phil and his wife, Lynn, were married for 58 years and together they built a family rooted in love and shared values. He was the proud father of Jeff Bruce (Angela) and Chris Bruce (Megan), who carry forward his legacy of integrity and kindness. Phil cherished his role as a grandfather to Kaiden, Jake, Logan, and Zachary. His presence in their lives was a source of joy and inspiration.

Phil's faith in God played a central role throughout his life. He was deeply involved with Stonebriar Community Church, where he found fulfillment in contributing to the music ministry, the men's ministry, and faithfully teaching Adult Bible Study every Sunday for the past 20+ years. His dedication to these ministries left an enduring impact on the church community, and everyone knew when an opportunity for service to his church arose, his quick response was always, "The answer's yes. What's the question?"

To honor Phil's love for Stonebriar's music and men's ministries, the family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Stonebriar Community Church with "Music Ministry" or "Men's Ministry" noted in the memo field.

Phil will be remembered for his unwavering faith, commitment to education, and the love he shared with those around him. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him. A Memorial Gathering will be held on May 9, 2026, from 01:45 PM to 03:15 PM at Stonebriar Community Church 4801 Legendary Drive, Frisco TX 75034

The service will be live-streamed beginning at 1:45pm on May 9, 2026, and will also be available later by going to the following :https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__youtube.com_live_uVfLL6vQxUU-3Ffeature-3Dshare&d=DwMFaQ&c=euGZstcaTDllvimEN8b7jXrwqOf-v5A_CdpgnVfiiMM&r=iBC9_A7XHDP3Pu2JPFFPBPopwTpPnvMiZn7LK4_oXg4&m=yQsgJcsMHLoN0J7buy9XgUxAGl_htUsNJ9-odJTPgD5pmApDt1B7fSuY4mBjdhnY&s=1HfZ6MzHcKiwl0_-bjQCYUs59yEiDi4T_4GcPFbdn6U&e=
