Philip Marvin "Phil" Cooper, 75, of Wallingford, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2026 surrounded by his wife, daughter, and sister in law. Born on June 3, 1950, in New Haven, Connecticut, he was the son of the late Milton and Evelyn Cooper.

Phil proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy, exemplifying his steadfast character and dedication to service. His commitment to those he loved was a hallmark of his life. Phil worked as a machinist at Pratt & Whitney and several local machine shops prior to his retirement.

A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Phil is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara J. Cooper; his cherished daughter Marissa (Salvador) Valenzuela; and his adored grandchildren Adrian, Alexander, and Emily Valenzuela. Known affectionately as "Papa," Phil found immense joy in spending time with his grandchildren. He delighted in building Legos and solving puzzles with them and took great pride in giving them tractor rides around the yard—moments that will forever be treasured by those who shared them.

Phil is also survived by his sister Valerie (Gregory) Echols; his brother Gerald (Cassio) Cooper; his sister-in-law Joanne (Thomas) Duhn; nieces Vanessa (Kristian) Felie, Karen (Stephen) Donnelly, and Suzanne (Matthew) Spight; nephew Alex Duhn; and numerous great-nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his parents-in-law Joseph and Dorothea Edmonds and his sister-in-law Nancy Bacon.

Phil's warmth and love for family were evident in every aspect of his life. His legacy lives on through the countless memories he created with those closest to him. Per Phil’s wishes, services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an animal charity of your choice.

May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
