Phyllis Jean Finley

1936 - 2026

Phyllis Finley, 90, passed away in the loving care of two of her children, Pamela Carson and Steve Finley, on the evening of March 23, in Lebanon, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Finley, in 2022.

Born Phyllis Jean Anderson on February 24, 1936 in Little Lake, Michigan, Phyllis married Leo on January 10, 1953 and started her almost 70 year journey with her life's companion that in the end took her to central Indiana. Along the way she made a home for her family in cities and towns across the heartland of the United States: Escanaba, Marquette, Battle Creek, Pierre, Apple Valley, and Memphis. Wherever she found herself, it was home for friends and family.

Phyllis is remembered fondly by her family as a passionate sports fan, a lover of games and puzzles, and for her wonderful cooking and baking. Former Westview Elementary students of a certain age remember her as the lunch lady who made the best pizza burgers of all time. It's a Minnesota thing.

Phyllis is mourned by sister Charlotte, brothers David, Calvin, Mark, and Edward, daughters Pamela and Dawn, sons Steve and Stuart, grandchildren Blair, Ryan, Hannah, Brooke, Steven, Katie, Jessica, Nic, Sarah, Greg, and 19 great-grandchildren (and counting).
