Phyllis Kent

Phyllis Jean Kent, 73, passed away on January 28, 2026, in Elkhart, Texas. Born on February 12, 1952, in Norton, Virginia, Phyllis lived a life quietly anchored in faith and grace.

She was the beloved daughter of Clifford and Hazel Harris and carried the Christian values instilled in her from childhood throughout her life. Her favorite verse, “For we walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5), was more than scripture—it was the compass by which she lived.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Kent; her parents; her sister, Kathy Lewis; and her brother, Larry Harris. Their presence remained ever close to her heart.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Renee Morton and son Will Morton; sisters Sherry Bone and husband Doug Bone, and Susan Evans and husband Clifton Evans; and stepson Truman Duncan Jr. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Ryan Sanchez, Alexys Sanchez, Madison Domec and spouse Hunter Domec, Severin Morton, and Avery Morton and 2 great grandchildren—each a cherished part of her journey.

Phyllis’s faith shone quietly but steadily, offering light to those around her. She walked with humility and strength, leaving behind a testament of trust in God that touched all who knew her.

A private Celebration of Life with family members will be held in her honor.
