Phyllis Silvi (Rippe), 94, recently of Livonia, MI, passed peacefully at her daughter's home in Hartland, MI on Friday, December 19, 2025. Phyllis was born in Detroit, MI, where she met her husband, Don Silvi. They attended McKenzie High School together with other family members and life-long friends.
Phyllis was always devoted to her family and the Presbyterian church. She rarely failed to attend the sporting events and artistic shows of her husband, children and extended family of three generations. She coached cheerleading, participated for years in the PTA, taught dance lessons, led many Girl Scout and Cub Scout troops, and chauffeured her children all over Michigan and beyond so that they could participate in multiple activities. She spent her favorite Friday nights in the stands cheering for her family's football teams. In her younger adulthood, Phyllis was an active member, Sunday school teacher, and Deacon of Cherry Hill Presbyterian Church. After moving to Livonia from Redford Twp., she relocated to Ward Evangelical Presbyterian Church where she remained active as a grief counselor and volunteer.
Phyllis was one of those rare people in the world who never forgot to recognize important days in her loved one's lives with specifically thoughtful cards. Her many nieces and nephews reminisce fondly at get-togethers about their most memorable cards from "Auntie Fonz". In return, she kept and cherished most of the cards she received.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, her Husband, Don, her daughter, Peggy (Steve Stephenson), her brother- and sister-in-law, Jack and Joanne Silvi, and her brother-in-law, Jim Silvi (Marge)
Phyllis will be missed on Earth by her remaining children, John (Linda), and Lynn (Ron Brouwers). Also by her grand- and great-grandchildren, her nieces and nephews of 3 generations, and her sister-in-law, Marge.
Phyllis wished to forgo a funeral in preference to a celebration of life sometime in the upcoming months. She has fully accepted and welcomed the exchange of this existence for continuing, everlasting life in Heaven. If anyone would like to commemorate her life with a charitable donation, in honor of the cats that followed her everywhere throughout her lifetime and her love for those furry friends, her family requests donations to The Cat Connection.
