Phyllis (Silver) Steinberg, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on November 13, 2025, at Eagle's Trace in Houston, Texas. Born in 1929 in Fall River, Massachusetts, she was the only child of Bertha and Leo Silver. After they moved to Parkchester, in the Bronx, Phyllis graduated from Hunter College in New York City in 1950 and went on to receive a Master's in English from Montclair State University.
Phyllis married Albert Steinberg in New York in 1953; they were married for 60 years, until Albert's passing in 2014. They raised their family in Morris Plains, New Jersey, retired to Delray Beach, Florida, and then moved to Houston in 2012.
As a couple, Phyllis and Al enjoyed, among other things, travel, theater, golf, and bridge. Later in life, Phyllis remained determined to be adventurous, joining in her growing family's celebrations and adventures, exploring the arts and culture scene, playing in multiple bridge and rummikub games, and participating for several years in a Wii-bowling league.
She was very proud of her three sons and their families, lighting up especially at mention of her grandchildren and great-grandson. She will be missed by Steven of New York City; Robert (Alice Sung) of Houston, along with their son Jason; and Donald (Rebecca Kotkin) of Boston, along with their children Deborah (William Mounfield), Leah Frydman (Josh), and Ted Steinberg, and her great-grandson Myles Frydman.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Phyllis' memory can be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
