Rachel Perez

Rachel Perez, 69, of Chicago Heights, Illinois, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2026. Born on August 20, 1956, in Harvey, Illinois, Rachel lived a life devoted to her faith, family, and community.

Rachel was the beloved mother of Jesus Perez Jr. (Teresa), Jose Luis Perez (Rocio), Christopher Alexander Perez (Michelle), and Alberto Isaias Perez (Sara). She was a cherished grandmother to Rain Smailes (Luke), Addison Perez, Jazmyn Perez, Vanessa Perez, Gabriel Perez, Ileah Perez, Samantha Perez, Mya Perez, Jacob Perez, Noel Perez, Jonah Perez, and Daniel Perez. She was survived by her siblings Remigio P. Ramirez Jr., Ignatius P. Ramirez, Edward P. Ramirez, Armand P. Ramirez (Jann), Ruby P. Ramirez (Jose), Priscilla Ann Galicia, Gilbert P. Ramirez (Nancy), Ludim May P. Ramirez, Rex Israel Ramirez (Ana), and Steven P. Ramirez.

She was predeceased by her parents Rev. Remigio C. Ramirez and Lupita P. Ramirez; her brother David P. Ramirez; and her sister Marylou Murphy (Jim).

A proud and devoted Christian throughout her life, Rachel found immense joy in praising and worshiping her Heavenly Father. She was a prayer warrior who led many people to the Lord with unwavering faith and dedication to her spiritual calling.

Rachel’s love for cooking brought family and friends together around the table for countless cherished meals. She also enjoyed playing cards, Scrabble, and dominoes—activities that reflected her vibrant spirit and love for connecting with others.

Those who knew Rachel will remember her as loving, caring, selfless, faithful—and above all—a woman of deep prayer and devotion. Her legacy of faith and kindness will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
