Ralph Michael Selmont, Jr

Ralph Michael Selmont Jr, 73, of Raleigh, NC, passed away on March 2, 2026 in Raleigh after a short battle with pneumonia. Born in Connecticut to Joanne & Ralph Michael Sr, and raised in Alaska until he joined the US Army. Ralph will be remembered for his joy of serving others, as a treasured friend, colleague, believer, and for being a loving father and dedicated husband.

Ralph served 22 years in the Army for the 224th MI battalion as a Sergeant First Class, with tours all over the world including Saudi Arabia during Desert Storm, Honduras, Japan, and Germany. He retired from the Army with an honorable discharge and easily transitioned into the world of high tech business with AT&T for 17 years as a project manager for Telecommunications and Networks with AT&T USPS Programs Office. He was an avid Ham radio hobbyist who recently received his Amateur Extra class radio license . As an active member at Church of the Apostles in Raleigh, Ralph served as an usher, greeter, and communion server, and was in several men's bible study groups. Ralph also liked to help with the sound system for the church or in any other capacity that was needed. He was known for meeting his fellow worshippers with an umbrella at their car and walking them into the sanctuary when it was raining.

Ralph will be remembered and celebrated by his wife of 40 years, Rita Selmont, his 3 step children, Ken Moushegian, Sevanne Moushegian and Laura Moushegian and his siblings, Richard Selmont (Alaska), Sandra Selmont (Alaska) and Ronald Selmont (Alaska). Ralph would do anything to support his grandchildren Alex Moushegian, Emily Moushegian, Sean Duncan, and Sara Moushegian. He is preceded in death by his younger brother, Raymond Selmont, and parents, Joanne & Ralph Michael Sr. We will continue on as he did with humor, kindness, curiosity, and a joy for serving others.
