Send Flowers
Randall Fisk Zurbach died December 3, 2025, in San Luis Obispo, CA after having been lovingly cared for by his family.

Born April 1, 1946, to Robert and Bernice Zurbach, Randy was raised in Pasadena, CA and as such had an uncanny familiarity with the freeways, highways, and side streets of the greater Los Angeles and Orange County areas. While Randy always had an old-fashioned Thomas Guide in his car, he seldom had to use it.

Randy graduated from the University of Southern California (USC) with a degree in Political Science and a lifelong devotion to Trojan football. Upon graduation, Randy joined the Army National Guard and proudly served his entire 8-year commitment while building his career and family. He often worked as a chef during his National Guard tenure, a fact that was comically evident when he would make dinner—the proportions of which were more appropriately suited to feed a small battalion, rather than a small family. We never went hungry.

Throughout his career Randy worked as a Corporate Banker and in Small Business Investment; with an impressive profile of successful ventures, his legacy lies not in the deals he made, but in the partnerships and friendships he cultivated. Many of his closest friends were business associates first, attesting to a life of professional integrity and sincerity.

Randy married the love of his life, Lynn Neville, on October 14, 1972, and together they traveled the world, remodeled many homes, and had three wonderful children (if we do say so ourselves). Their 52 years of marriage were filled with laughter, adoration, and good music. If you know Randy, you know how passionate he was about music. He took pride in cultivating an eclectic and expansive music collection and sharing this love with his children. Music was at the heart of the Zurbach household; Randy was perpetually in pursuit of the most up-to-date, immersive sound system to ensure everyone (even the neighbors) could fully appreciate the intricacies of Mark Knopfler’s guitar playing on Sultans of Swing. Music filled our home on Sunday mornings during breakfast and supplied the soundtrack to our lives with memories of concerts, impromptu parties, and song-filled road trips.

A lifelong adventurer, Randy would often exclaim, “Let’s go have some fun” before whisking away for a quick trip to Costco or spur-of-the-moment drive to Ensenada for lobster tacos; with Randy you never knew where you might end up! Whether body surfing, golfing, watching the Rams, or tailgating at a Jimmy Buffet concert, Randy was always ready for a good time with good people and good food and drink.

Above all, Randy was a great dad and wonderful grandad. He was funny, kind, protective, generous, and attentive. What an incredible life he gave us.

Randy is preceded in death by his parents Bob and Bernice Zurbach, sister Christine Zurbach Wiser, brother-in-law Bud Wiser, and beloved wife Lynn Zurbach. He leaves behind his children Matthew Zurbach, Christine Zurbach, and Kathleen Zurbach Fujii, son-in-law Brian Fujii, and grandchildren Hudson Zurbach, Zoe Fujii, Irelynn Zurbach, Penelope Fujii, and Theodora Fujii.

A funeral mass will be held February 6th at 1pm at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church in San Luis Obispo with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the San Luis Obispo Symphony (slosymphony.org/) or Jack’s Helping Hand (jackshelpinghand.org)—both are local organizations that were close to Randy’s heart.
