Obituary for Randy S. Czyz
April 20, 1955 – April 20, 2026
Randy S. Czyz, 71, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on April 20, 2026, surrounded by his loving family and praising the Lord until his final breaths.
Randy was born on April 20, 1955, in Syracuse, NY, and lived a life defined by faith, service, and devotion to his family. He was married to his beloved wife, Maryanne (Bidwell) Czyz of Palermo, NY, for 52 years; a reflection of a deep and enduring love.
Randy faithfully served as an Assembly of God pastor for 43 years. He was the lead pastor at Word of Life Assembly of God (Baldwinsville, NY), and Highland Falls Assembly of God (NY).
He also served as a chaplain at the United States Military Academy at West Point from 1987 to 1992. Following the tragic events of September 11, 2001, Randy served as a Red Cross chaplain at Ground Zero, offering comfort and support during one of the nation’s most difficult times. He further served his community as a chaplain for the Moyers Corners Fire Department in Central New York since September 11, 2010.
Randy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather of fifteen, and great-grandfather of one. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeremy (Annemarie) Czyz. He is survived by his wife, Maryanne; his sons, Jacob (Jill) Czyz, Thomas (Maria) Czyz, and his daughter, Michelle (Martin) Pierce.
Randy’s greatest joy was his family, and his greatest mission was his faith. His legacy of love, leadership, and service to others will continue to live on through the lives he touched and the family he cherished.
A small service for friends and family will be held at New Spring Church, 3001 Waccamaw Blvd, Myrtle Beach, SC 29579, on April 26, 2026, at 3:00 PM. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 2:00–3:00 PM, and a light reception will follow the service.
A second Celebration of Life will be held at Word of Life Assembly of God, 12 East Oneida Street, Baldwinsville, NY 13027, on May 9, 2026, at 2:00 PM. Host Pastor Tom Wood and Presiding Pastor John Carter. A light reception will follow the service.
