Randy Franklin Solomon
August 23rd, 1955 – February 20th, 2026

Randy Franklin Solomon, 70, of Decatur, Alabama, passed away peacefully at home on February 20, 2026. Born on August 23, 1955 in Ardmore, Alabama, Randy lived a life marked by humility, kindness, hard work, devotion, and love.

Growing up as the middle child, but oldest son of five siblings, Randy loved to spend time working on cars with his brothers and friends. Over his teenage years and early 20's, Randy had several cars, including his favorites a 1958 Chevy Impala and a 1967 Chevelle, that he would enjoy cruising around, racing, and showing off to others. This led him into his career as an automotive mechanic where he would dedicate 42 years of his life to Sears as their top automotive technician. His expertise and commitment to his craft earned him the respect and admiration from coworkers and customers alike. He enjoyed helping people as much as he enjoyed working on cars.

Beyond his career, Randy’s true legacy was the love and dedication he poured into his wife, family and friends. His greatest joy was his wife, Lorene, with whom he shared 54 years together, including 51 beautiful years of marriage. Together they built a loving home filled with wonderful memories of helping family, loving grandkids, traveling to the Smoky Mountains, and countless hours of silly jokes, laughter and true joy. He is survived by his wife Lorene (Looney) Solomon; their three children: Brandon (& Emily) Solomon, Brian (& Pat) Solomon, and Jessica (& Drew) Harmon; and their beloved grandchildren: Ava, Branson, Elijah, Ella Kate, and Bryson Solomon. Randy also leaves behind his siblings; Brenda Parker, Ann Sheats, and Joey Solomon, as well as several brothers- and sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews that he loved so very much.

Randy was preceded in death, by his parents JC "Jake" Solomon and Margaret Allean (Harris) Solomon, his brother Ricky Solomon, and two nieces, Taylor Sheats and Madison Sheats.

At the age of 18, Randy gave his life to Jesus and followed in Believer's Baptism in 1973 at Faith Baptist Church in Moulton, Alabama. For the past 27 years, he was a faithful member of Cedar Ridge Baptist Church. There, he served as a deacon and demonstrated his servant’s heart by driving the church van to pick up the elderly and children for church services. His unwavering faith and trust in Jesus was the cornerstone of his life. These were a testament to love—love for the Lord, love for family, and love for others. His humble spirit touched countless lives through both word and deed. May his memory and legacy bringforth comfort and inspiration to all who knew him.

Visitation will be held at Shelton Funeral Home, 2105 Beltline Rd SW, on February 23, 2026, from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM. The funeral will follow from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM . A graveside service will follow afterwards from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM at Limestone Memorial Gardens, 1987 Highway 31 S. Athens, Ala 35611
