Raoul Edward “Cookie” Rodriguez, 82, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2025, in Fresno, California. Born on December 19, 1942, in Fresno, Cookie remained deeply connected to his hometown throughout his life.

A proud graduate of Roosevelt High School in the Class of 1960, Cookie went on to attend Fresno State University before answering the call to serve his country. In 1961, he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard and served honorably until 1965. During his service, he completed two tours as part of Operation Deep Freeze aboard the USCGC Eastwind icebreaker, cutting through Antarctic ice to support U.S. convoy routes from New Zealand to McMurdo Station.

Following his military service, Cookie built a successful career as General Manager for several companies including Lien Services, Pet Smart, and We Rent Fences. His leadership and work ethic left a lasting impression on those who worked alongside him.

He was preceded in death by his parents George and Isabel, and his brother and dear sister-in-law George and Barbara.

Family was at the heart of Cookie’s life. He was a devoted father that had four children but raised six, Timothy, Robert, Joanie, Heidi, Jacob, and Valerie. Cookie had loving relationships with his daughter in law Julie, and son in law Brad. He was also a cherished brother to Dan and his wife Sandy. Cookie took immense pride in being a grandfather to ten grandchildren, Brandon, Brooke, Darren, Kara, Jenna, Bryson, Daniel, Savannah, Gabriel, and Hailey, and three great grandchildren, Milleena, Maks, and Luks. Cookie enjoyed being an uncle and cousin, and was proud of his relationships with cousins on the Castanos, Arguelles, Chavarria, and Rodriguez sides of his family. Cookie also shared an unbreakable bond with a lifelong group of childhood friends who are like brothers to him

Cookie’s passions were as rich and varied as the life he led. A lifelong fan of the San Francisco 49ers, he cheered them on with unwavering loyalty and certainly belongs in the 49er faithful hall of fame. He found joy in the outdoors—hunting and fishing were not just hobbies but traditions he lovingly passed down to his children. He was also an avid reader with a special fondness for Westerns by Louis L’Amour. Cookie also enjoyed classic television westerns like Gunsmoke, Bonanza, and The Rifleman.

Music filled many of Cookie’s days; he appreciated both country music and classic rock radio. His love for animals was profound—especially for his beloved dogs Irish, Split Shot, Little Bit, and Faith, with each one holding a special place in his heart.

In later years, Cookie found enjoyment in playing bingo and continued nurturing his spiritual life through regular attendance at St. Paul Catholic Newman Center. His Catholic faith remained a guiding force throughout his life.

May Raoul Edward “Cookie” Rodriguez be remembered for the strength of his character and the depth of his love for family and faith. His memory will live on in all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Memorial mass will be held on January 15, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Paul Catholic Newman Center, 1572 E. Barstow in Fresno, CA.. A celebration of life same location will follow with food and beverages provided.
