Raul Bezares

Raul Bezares, 77, originally of San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, and later of Holyoke, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones.

Born in San Lorenzo, Raul carried his Puerto Rican roots with pride throughout his life. He built a life centered on family, hard work, and quiet strength. He worked for many years as a medical equipment technician at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx, New York, where he was respected for his dedication, skill, and attention to detail.

Raul was a man of many simple but meaningful joys. He loved fishing, spending peaceful time near the water, and was especially known for preparing special meals that brought his family together. A great dominoes player, he enjoyed laughter, competition, and connection with those around him. He also took pride in his appearance, always fashionable, and carried himself with a genuine and confident presence.

Those who knew Raul will remember him as selfless, loving, strong, caring, attentive, and analytical. He was a steady and unshakable presence in the lives of his family, a man whose actions spoke just as loudly as his words.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Maria Bezares; his children, Wilson, Raul, Lizbeth, Mary, Brenda, and Orlando; his son/daughter-in-law, Elvin, Michael, Gina and Omar; his grandchildren, Isaiah, Zion, Carly, Ashley, Angel, Max, Brianna, Nasha, Oralis, Brenda, Luis, Ilani, Elias, Jordan, Leila, Jaydrien, Gabriel; and his great-grandchild, Luna. His love and legacy will continue through all of them.

Raul will be deeply missed, but the memories he created, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave will remain with his family forever.

Raul was the heart of his family, the one who showed up, who gave without asking, and who made everyone feel cared for in their own way. The sound of his voice, the meals he made, the games he played, and the quiet strength he carried will be deeply missed. Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort knowing that his love does not leave us, it lives on in every story we tell, every meal we share, and every moment we come together as a family. He will always be with us.
