Raul Perez of Premont, Texas passed away on December 22, 2025. He was 95. He was born in Falfurrias, Texas on March 23, 1930, to Jose Maria Perez and Julia Quintanilla. He served in the United States Marines for 9 years. During the Korean War, he served with the 1st Marine Division 5th Regiment at the Battle of Chosin Reservoir. He left the Marine Corps as a staff Sergeant. Mr. Perez was the past Commander of the VFW post 7634 and was an active member of the American Legion and was a member of the Woodmen of the World. Most of his life he was a butcher at some of our local stores. He worked for HEB in Falfurrias for over 17 years, Cantu Super Market and West Model Market in Premont.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Maria R. Perez of Premont, Texas, one son Jaime Alfredo Perez of Falfurrias, Texas, his daughter Bedelia Angela Perez (Luis D. Garcia) of Alice, Texas, 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Mr. Perez is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Donato Perez and his two sisters, Domitila Barrera and Catarina Azocar.
A Holy Rosary will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday December 27, 2025, at the St. Theresa Catholic Church in Premont, Texas with the Funeral Mass to follow at 10:30 A.M. Burial will be held at the Premont Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
Pallbearers are Mike Lozano, Jaime Perez Jr., Rick Martinez, Steve Rauda, Gabriel Rauda and Joey Hussein
