Raymond Todd Markus, 61, of Pontiac, Michigan, passed away on February 9, 2026, after a long illness.
Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Raymond grew up in Clarkston, Michigan, where he formed lifelong connections and memories.
He was known for his kind, gentle nature and his unmistakable sense of humor. Raymond had a gift for making people smile, occasionally breaking into spirited renditions of "Ring of Fire" or "The Cover of the Rolling Stone" for those lucky enough to be in the room. Those moments — equal parts heart and humor — are memories his family will treasure.
Raymond is survived by his brother Ronald Markus of Sopchoppy, Florida; his sister Sarah Abraham and her husband Darrin of Ortonville, Michigan; and their children Grace and William. He also leaves behind his brother Matthew Markus of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Raymond held a special place in his heart for his stepdaughter Victoria Vore and his beloved grandchildren Leah, Madisyn, and Bentley Vore of Port Huron, Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his cherished wife Nancy Markus; his parents Robert Sr. and Dawn Markus; and his brother Robert Markus Jr.
A celebration of Raymond's life is being planned and will be held in the spring.
May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
